"From the first Empowered American women in history and around the world, we aim to find ourselves a place in the social fabrics of our community, be in a small or a larger platform.
Our dream is at times overlooked and unappreciated . Women in this generation must learn to be pro active in our decision making for children of men came from us, the mothers who protect starting from the womb of conception to preservation of values for limitless opportunity to grow with passion and sincerity to their dreams. Women are the creator of image we want to be." - Marilyn Z.O. Doromal

Marilyn Zoleta O. Doromal: Her Life, Her Advocacy
It was in the pristine shores of Alabat Island in Quezon Province, Philippines where Marilyn Zoleta O.Doromal first witnessed the light of life. Despite the challenges growing up, Marilyn grew up to be a positive accepting and fun loving islander. Defeat and failure will pass but success comes after. The rawness of life in the island became Marilyn's venue to dream. She carried that dream onto her future goals in life. Many challenges equates more success submitting less failure. From happy school childhood to high school decision of pursuing , she graduated college, got married, started teaching in a nearby school with three children, Cesilyn, Vincent, & Vonczar. Marilyn started teaching in 1973 two months after Vincent was born.
The turning point of her career was when she was offered a teaching job in Los Angeles, California, USA after 13 years of pedagogical service in the Philippines. She became passionate in her career as a teacher in the most affluent primary school in Hollywood, California. Another 13 years passed by and while Vincent was completing his duty at Ft. Benning , she received an offer to teach in Columbus.
In 1999, same time she was teaching at Our Lady of Lourdes School, she opened a K-12 State approved tutorial center in Columbus, Georgia. She became actively involved in the community. She applied her vast experience in Hollywood and co- produced and directed a major fund raising event for PACG with the mission of acquiring a Filipino owned Philippine American Center in Georgia (PACG). The first Cultural Show in 2000 at the State of the Art Clayton Performing Arts Center became the most successful event in Atlanta showcasing our Filipino identity with active and collective involvement of 21 Georgia organizations with an impressive gross income of $17,000 in two hours. Followed by Pinoy Fiesta in Duluth and series of concerts headed by then Federation president the late Conrad Gutlay, PACG was able to fulfill that dream. The purchase of a humble property in Snellvile was made possible by a philanthropic hands of Drs. Abe and Zeny Magat.
Mrs. Doromal became an active civic leader in 2000 as Club Filipino president. In 2004, she was elected as president of the Federation of Filipino American Organizations of Georgia for 4 terms. She is one of the 2006 Who's Who Among America's Teacher. In 2007 - she was elected by NaFFAA R4 as its Chairman and also honored as Maharlika Awardee.
On May 2013 , she was awarded as Outstanding Asian Pacific American by AAPOG. She also collaborated with Galing Foundation, Inc. (GFI) & Consular Office the successful gathering of Filipino Americans at the National Archives At Atlanta participated by 11 states representatives, Chairman of NaFFAA, the Philippines Ambassador to US, Mrs. Loida Nicolas Lewis and all 4 Most Influential Filipino American Women in 4 regions. The biggest challenge for Mrs. Doromal is to re discover the 1800's first Filipino Settlers in Louisiana. It was a very monumental moment because for the first time, the 5th & sixth descendants of these Filipino settlers sat foot, walked with her as they entered the door of the National Archives at Atlanta.
On Oct. 2013, with the support of some friends and her son Chief Warrant Officer 2, Von and Mrs. Doromal joined hands to organized the Honoring Event for Military service personnel , FilAm Medical professionals, and workers at Ft. Benning. 75 recipients/awardees came with non other than Fort Benning Comanding General McMaster , MG Tony Taguba, Brig. Gen. Lee Quintas, FilAm Commandant of Armor as special guests. 75 men and women participated this event. R4 forged to advance the life and stories of our soldier so as not to repeat the infamous treatment our FilVets suffered in the past.
2014 - Mrs. Doromal and Mr Doromal retirement plans did not stop them from doing things they love to do. While in the Philippines they visited poorest areas of the poor and continue to their civic duties representing R4. Naming it "R4 Across the Borders and Beyond" they personally fed, eat, and met the indigenous group of the island. R4 also collaborated with Batch'64 grads for its Medical, Dental, and Surgical Mission to the island.
2015 - NaFFAA R4 continued its mission to the "katutubong Mangyan". They sailed and personally visited out of school children because they can not afford to answer the demands of school. No breakfast so instead of going to school they'd rather go to the shore and wait for the early dawn's catch of fishermen who will make or break the day's meal. School was never a priority. Mrs.D invited few of them for dinner and a dozen came. Few were invited for a reading (not eating) session and few showed up. Alleviating poverty amongst our indigenous group is rampant. Mrs. Doromal's dream is to see children unburdened by the harsh reality of their environment. To see mothers and nurturing millennial women of this generation the dexterity to plant the seeds of competence with a strong grassroots of un-corrupted consciousness.
